Mamey Island Kayaking Expedition

Mamey Island,  is a place full of peace and quiet to relax and unwind a bit, not to the complete isolation, since it is a fairly accessible. People are very friendly and there is a beautiful landscape, characteristic of our Panama. This is a small island (about 4000 m2) in the Costa Arriba of Colon province, just 200 meters from shore and just over one nautical mile from the community of Puerto Lindo. Part of Portobelo National Park. To the east is the larger island and beyond Linton, Isla Grande.

Breath peace and relax.

The island was bought by a Spanish for very little and is now on sale for long, so do not be surprised when you arrive and see a sign saying “private property”. It is inhabited only occasionally by their taker and family, but enabled for the convenience of visitors with some huts and awnings, hammocks, chairs and tables and a long field of grass for camping.  If by any chance we can not camp on Mamey we will procure an alternate nearby location.

There is a small strip of sand with many shells and already very close to shore are beginning to see the fish and corals. There are reefs on both sides of the coast and because there is not much current is shallow and perfect for snorkeling.

For those who like to hike or watch birds there is a way around the island landscape with rocks and sea and seabirds can be seen as the kingfisher, osprey, pelicans and some garden birds.
